EDUCATION
I hold a Bachelor of Engineering degree, Mechanical discipline, from Memorial University of Newfoundland located in St. John's, Newfoundland.
The Engineering Department at Memorial has offered a Cooperative program for many years, with its first participants graduating in 1974. The program is fully accredited. Applicants to the program are accepted on merit basis, having completed mandated academic requirements. Graduates are required to complete eight (8) academic and six (6) work placement terms. A student completing the six (6) year program has accumulated two (2) years of practical work experience prior to graduation. I graduated in May 1990 with a 4.0 Grade Point Average.
CONTINUING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
I view continuous learning as an important part of my duties. Throughout my career I have completed many training courses in an ongoing effort to improve my skills and my ability to perform the task at hand. Subscription to periodicals, internet research and membership in Engineering organizations are also critical components of my program. A sampling of this ongoing effort follows.
Continuous study of technologies relevent to the industry in which I work. Research into general technical knowledge and products & processes in the marketplace.
Continuous study of commercial and financial topics and issues. Research into new theories, techniques and methodologies.
Membership in PEO (Professional Engineers Ontario) and OSPE (Ontario Society of Professional Engineers).
Numerous equipment manufacturer technical presentations.
Counselor Sales Program. A two day Sales seminar offered by USFilter which introduced the Counselor Sales approach to increasing Sales through increasing knowledge of the customer's implicit needs.
Customer Relationship Management. A one day training seminar offered by USFilter which introduced the CRM software package being used by USFilter (Pivotal CRM), detailing the features, functionality, flexibility and power of this enterprise software package.
Career Development School. A three day Sales seminar offered by Culligan which introduced Culligan's product line, sales structure and sales techniques.
Principles of Project Management. A four day Project Management seminar offered through MICA by Mel Silverman which introduced the basic techniques and strategies of project management.
Total Quality Management. A three day Total Quality Management seminar offered by Ontario Hydro where the 3M quality improvement process was introduced. To evaluate progress and hone skills, two "quality days" were held following the initial TQM training seminar.
Emergency Procedures. A two day Firefighting, Scott air pack training and St. John Ambulance course offered by ESSO Chemical.
Hazardous Materials Transportation. A one day seminar offered by Ontario Hydro.
AWARDS

Member of Ontario Hydro Pickering Unit 4 Retubing/Rehab Project Team, which received the Canadian Nuclear Association 1993 Outstanding Contribution Award.
